A drama of urban divisions and warfare, weaving together class, personal and national histories. The film is anchored by a wartime reencounter between a servant child and a tutor, transformed in the crucible of the spring 1968 Saigon offensive. Nhung, once an abandoned orphan, had saved tutor Tam Son by hiding his revolutionary papers from the police. Years later, both are soldiers fighting the United States, and Nhung asks to assist commander Tam who finally give her an assignment: to destroy a tank blocking advances.
